New Land Strawberry Custard Pie

It is strange how knowledge can be lost over time only to be rediscovered.  Before the First War, grand ships sailed the oceans and all 12 continents had been explored and mapped.  Only a few were settled due to the long ocean journeys and separation from civilization.  The First War brought the known world to the edge of destruction and much knowledge was lost. Most of the ships were destroyed along with the knowledge of their making.  Also many dangerous animals were created and escaped in the after math of the war.

Thus the few settlements were separated for eons.  The Children of Dark and the Children of Light where scattered and all but destroyed, each race only having one city left.  So the age of humans started.  The humans had always been in the shadow of the Children since they did not die of old age.  Each of the settlements became its own kingdom and in the quiet eons developed individual cultures and tried to relearn the magic and skills hinted at in legends.  Ships capable of making the crossings between the continents were a long time coming. Some early attempts were only partly successful in that the ships got them there but could not get them back thus creating new cultures on far off lands.

We now live in The Second Age of Exploration, where new trade routes spring up and even new continents.  Recently a young man named Ehun managed to discover the continent to the west.  When he sailed into port, on one of the Duke’s own ships thought to be lost in a raid on the North Sea, with a hold full of new and exotic plants it was exciting.  If it were not for Ehun’s sudden popularity with the King, the Duke may have had him thrown in jail for ship stealing.  Many think it was the Duke’s jealousy that caused Ehun to go back to his new land and start a settlement there.

The strawberry was a fruit that was discovered at about this time on the new continent.  Many desserts were made with them and below is my favorite.

1 Pound of fresh strawberries (Approximately)
2 Large eggs
1 14oz. can sweetened condensed milk
¼ Teaspoon vanilla extract
